Island Brac belongs to middle dalmatian archipelag. It is elliptical shape, 36 km long, 3-12 km wide. With area 395 km2 it is the largest dalmatian island (Vidova gora - 778 m above sea level). From that peak there is wonderfull view at Bol, island Hvar, island Vis, and for clear days you can see Italian coast.

Island coast is very well indented, and 175 km long. Many bays line one after other. At Brac there is one of the most beautiful pebbly beaches on croatian Jadran - Zlatni rat at Bol. Thaat is the only beach in the world, as it has been sad, that formed so that it goes vertically to the coast.

Island is mostly made of chalken lime stones, sedimentational origin, that is settled in many sediments from where you get big block, sutiable for economical modification. Extraction of stone on the island date from ancient times. Stone from Brac was used in many famous buildings in the world:

- Building of Parlament in Budapest
- New palace and Parlament in Bec
- Diokkletian palace in Split
- Sibenik cathedral

Clime is tipical mediterian and at number of sun hours in year (2700) counts into most sunny Adriatic areas. Aproximatly temperature at summer is 23,8 C. At winter temperature is 8,6 C.

At island there are 22 settlements with 14000 inhabitants. The biggest cites on island are Supetar and Pucisca. Brac is well conected with land. Ferryboat Split - Supetar goes few times a day and in tourist seasone almoust every hour. On Brac you can also come from Makarska with ferryboat conection Makarska - Sumartin also few times a day. Except that, some other settlements on the coast are conected with Split with fast shhips (specialy at summer). Brac has over 100 km asphalted wide roads, which makes all settlements conected with bus lines with Supetar, and that means also with Split. Not long ago international airport is builded (for airplains to 50 seats) that conected this island with land even more.
